PRIXO doesn’t scrape delivery apps or maintain its own menu catalogue. Instead, it relies on a community-powered process: real users submit checkout screenshots, AI extracts and validates the price data, the community confirms it, and verified totals are served to anyone who queries that dish. This page walks you through every stage of that process — from raw screenshot to the number displayed in the chat.

The data lifecycle

Every price in PRIXO’s system passes through four stages before it’s shown to users:
Each stage has a quality gate. If AI extraction fails — for example, the screenshot is blurry or cropped — the submission is rejected and the contributor is notified. If community verification stalls and no one confirms a price within the staleness window, it is flagged and deprioritised in results.

The Trust Network

The Trust Network is PRIXO’s community verification layer. When you submit a screenshot, your extracted price enters the system with an Unverified status. For it to become Verified, it needs weighted confirmations from other contributors. The weight of each confirmation depends on the contributor’s Trust Level. Prices confirmed by experienced, long-standing contributors reach Verified status faster than those confirmed only by brand-new accounts. This means the system naturally favours well-established community voices and resists low-effort manipulation. Once a price is Verified, it appears with a Verified badge in comparison results and is used as the primary data point for that dish on that platform.

True total calculation

The core value PRIXO provides is showing you the true total — not the menu price, but the amount you’d see at checkout. PRIXO calculates it as follows:
Each component is extracted independently from contributor screenshots, so PRIXO can surface cases where two platforms charge the same item price but different delivery or service fees — making one meaningfully more expensive than the other.
VAT in Saudi Arabia is 15% and is applied to the item subtotal (item price × quantity). Delivery fees and service charges are not subject to VAT on most platforms, but PRIXO uses the exact figures from contributor screenshots rather than recalculating, so the displayed total always reflects what was actually charged.

Restaurant base price vs. delivery app markup

Many restaurants in Riyadh list their own prices on their website or physical menu. Delivery apps sometimes charge more for the same item — this is the markup. PRIXO shows you the markup percentage alongside every comparison result:
When PRIXO has a confirmed base price for a restaurant (sourced from contributor submissions tagged as “dine-in” or “direct order”), it calculates and displays the markup for each platform. If no base price is available, the markup column is hidden rather than shown as an estimate.

AI chat: verified prices first, web search as fallback

When you ask the PRIXO chat a question, the AI follows a two-step lookup:
  1. Verified price lookup — PRIXO searches its verified price store for the exact restaurant and dish you mentioned. If a fresh, Verified price exists for all three platforms, it returns a full comparison instantly.
  2. Web search fallback — If no verified result is found, or only partial results (for example, prices for two platforms but not the third), the AI performs a web search to fill the gap. Results sourced from web search are always labelled Unconfirmed in the response so you know they haven’t been validated by the Trust Network.
The AI understands Saudi dialect Arabic and resolves common shorthand — for example, “ماما نورة” maps to the full restaurant name “مطعم ماما نورة” without you needing to type it out in full.
If the AI returns an Unconfirmed result for a dish you order regularly, submit a checkout screenshot after your next order. You’ll earn points, and future users will get a Verified answer instead.

Price freshness and the stale policy

Prices change. A restaurant might adjust its fees, a platform might update its service charge, or a promotional price might expire. To prevent outdated data from misleading users, PRIXO enforces a 7-day freshness window.
Any price that has not been confirmed by a new contributor submission within the last 7 days is automatically marked Stale. Stale prices are still shown in comparison results but are visually distinguished from fresh Verified prices. PRIXO’s AI also verbally flags stale results when responding to chat queries, so you’re never silently shown old data.
A price returns to Verified status as soon as a new contributor submits a matching screenshot. The 7-day clock resets on every confirmed submission, so actively ordered dishes stay fresh automatically without any manual intervention from the PRIXO team.
